Varun Trikha is a Toronto and Delhi based auteur filmmaker. From writing about cinema during an MA in Ethics at King's College London (Innovation Scholarship), he transitioned to making films after training in Creative Documentary in Delhi. Varun's work often explores themes of loss- of identity, culture and memory. His 2015 film 'The Seventh Wish'(released on Mubi and DAFilms), for instance, reclaimed a nearly forgotten genre of Urdu poetry. Similarly, his debut feature ‘Raise Me a Memory’ set along Estonia-Russia border (Yamagata), approached traumatic losses through a therapeutic lens. His current project, Shape of Silence, reflects a thematic shift from loss to hope, coinciding with his experience of becoming a parent.
