Roman Blazhan is a documentary film director and producer at Minimal Movie, a production company based in Ukraine and Germany. Originally from Donetsk, Eastern Ukraine, he first built a career in energy trading and finance before discovering his passion for filmmaking in 2015.
His latest documentary, The Basement, co-produced with ARTE France, had its world premiere at BAFICI 2024 and its European premiere at Munich DOK.fest. The film was broadcast on ARTE in February 2025 and is available for streaming on ARTE.TV.
Since March 2022, Roman has been based in Germany.
