The youngest of the three sisters Aleksandra Rechkalova was born in Katunino, Arkhangelsk Oblast, on the shoreline of the White sea. She studied documentary filmmaking at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography in Moscow. Meerim is her debut feature shot in Kyrgyzstan in 2018.
