With fifteen years of professional experience in international migration, human trafficking, sex work research, sociocultural and gender analysis she has worked as researcher, lecturer and consultant at various institutes of higher learning, UN and other public institutions in Denmark and abroad. She conducts fieldwork in Thailand on sex work and marriage migration of Thai women to the EU. She also works in Nigeria on the topic of deportation of Nigerian sex workers from the EU, and among Nigerians selling sex in the streets of Copenhagen. She is the 2015 recipient of the Danish Research Councils prestigious Sapere Aude Young Elite Researcher Award.
