Radu Muntean graduated in 1994 the Theatre and Film Academy, the Film Direction section. In 1999 he joined the Faculty of Film Direction, where he was university lecturer. His feature debut, Rage, was screened in various international film festivals and was awarded with Best debut film by The Romanian Cineastes Union award, and Best Photography (Vivi Drăgan Vasile) at TIFF in 2003, his second feature followed. Hârtia va fi albastră/The Paper Will Be Blue (2006) opened at the competition of Locarno Film Festival and won other 10 awards in Sarajevo, EURASIA, Namur, Cotbus International Film Festivals etc. In 2008 Radu has completed his third film, Boogie, which has been selected for 2008 Cannes ’ Directors’ Fortnight and by other around 20 film festivals, as Karlovy Vary, Hamptons, Rotterdam, Namur, Sarajevo, Palic (Jury Special Award), Anonimul (Romania; Best Director) etc. 2010 was the year when “Tuesday, after Christmas” Radu’s thrid feature film had the premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, “Un Certain Regard” selection.
