Martina Sakova is a German-Slovak director and creative producer. She was born in former Czechoslovakia and has lived in Berlin since 2003. She studied film directing at the Film Academy in Bratislava and at the Babelsberg Film University in Potsdam. In 2007, she founded the film production company Projector23 in Berlin and in 2020 WhatIf Films in Bratislava. She worked on animated shorts, fiction and documentary films for RTVS, CT, HBO Europe, and image films for numerous NGOs. Her last feature film Summer Rebels was theatrically released in Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Austria, acquired by RTVS, NPO, and NETFLIX and screened in competition at over 30 film festivals worldwide. Summer Rebels was preselected for the German Film Award ´21 and won the German Film Critics ́Award ´21. Her new feature film project LOVEBOTS, has been preselected for the German Script Award ´24.
