Bram Crols (Belgium °72) was trained as director/producer at the Brussels film school and the European Film College in Denmark. Since he has been working as director and producer for television, feature film (as directors assistant), publicity and corporate productions. He was introduced to the art of documentary making by working on the documentaries, ‘Atlantic Wall’ (1999), ‘Raveel’ (2000) and ‘Judentransport XX’ (2003). In 2006 Bram scripted his first feature movie on a scholarship of the VAF, the Flanders Audiovisual Fund.
His documentary ‘Township Jive’ (2006), toured the globe with more than 15 international festival selections. The film was awarded ‘best documentary’ at the Ibiza International Film Festival 2007. It was broadcasted in Belgium (Lichtpunt) and South-Africa (SABC).
His most recent documentary ‘Building a Legend’ (2007), a Belgian-Holland-Finnish co-production has been aired on RTBF, Arte Belgique, YLE, AVRO. It has been screened on several international film festivals on all continents. The film was nominated for ‘best Belgian doc’ in the Henri Storck 2006-2007 competition of the Belgian Doc Panorama. The documentary has so far been sold to VRT and SF (Switzerland).
Currently Bram is producing the feature documentaries ‘Flaxmen’ (2009) and ‘Who’s afraid of Alzheimer’s ?’ (2010), both international co-productions. Bram is also curator of the CCFF, the Cultural Capital Film Focus. Next to his producing work he is developing his next documentaries as filmmaker ‘African Masks’ for VRT, and ‘Caught in transition’ (both working titles).
Since 2007 Bram is partner in the production company Associate Director.
