Steina Vašulka (1940) is regarded as a pioneer of video art. Among the work that she shares with her husband, Woody (Bohuslav Vašulka, a Czech native), includes experimental and documentary films, video and audio installations, and multimedia works. In 1971, together with Andreas Mannik, they founded the alternative video centre The Kitchen (in Greenwich Village, USA).
