Łukasz Kowalski is a director, screenwriter, and producer, and a member of the Polish Film Academy, the Polish Filmmakers Association, and the Polish Producers Alliance. He is the recipient of the Polish Film Award (Eagle) for Best Documentary Film (2023). His feature-length debut Lombard / The Pawnshop screened at nearly 100 international festivals and won 25 awards, including the Grand Prix at Millennium Docs Against Gravity and Best Film from Central and Eastern Europe at Astra Film Festival. The film received international recognition, including IDA Award nominations (Best Film, Best Director) and a Doc Alliance Award nomination at Cannes. He has participated in leading international development programs, including Dok.Incubator, Ex Oriente, DocLab Poland, and the Polish Producers Alliance Accelerator, as well as the KIPA/Netflix “Let’s Be Series” program. In this project, he brings his experience in observational cinema and character-driven narratives.
