Alexander Elkran was born in 1987, living the majority of his life in Novosibirsk. He graduated from the Faculty of Cinematography, and spent a long time working in a studio which makes commercial movies and adverts. He moved to Moscow in 2013 and began to try himself at documentary filmmaking. Since 2016, he has been studying at the Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov School of Documentary Cinema and Theatre. His diploma documentary was selected to IDFA (2018) and Sheffield (2019).
