In primary school, Jonas Heldt wanted to become a wildlife filmmaker. His grandfather was a steelworker at a foundry. In the small Bavarian village where he grew up, whoever drove a German car was considered to have made it in life. He moved to Berlin where he started to make documentary films worked in theatre, as a radio producer and a night porter.
