Anja Medved was born in 1969 in Slovenia. Graduated in theatre and film direction at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana and attended courses at the Pasadena College of Design (USA). She was actively involved in the preparation of projects created by the Microinternational group in Los Angeles and in the Atol projects directed by Marko Peljhan in Ljubljana. In 1997, she adapted Michelangelo Antonioni's film script and directed the theatre performance Noč (Night). Her 1996 Los Angeles video installation Two Lights on Dark was followed by a Ljubljana multimedia installation Frequenze notturne (Night Frequencies) in 2000. She had an exhibition of video pieces called Od zahoda do vzhoda. Has directed several documentary films.
