Hanna Hovitie (born in 1991) is a film director from Helsinki, Finland. She has a background (BA) in Cinematography and Editing and in 2019 she graduated as MA of Arts in Documentary Directing from the international DocNomads Joint Degree Program based in Lisbon, Budapest and Brussels. Her first short documentary “Miles to Go Before I Sleep” (2015) was screened at 50+ international film festivals and won 6 awards. “Terraria” premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest (2019), was nominated i.a. for the Silver Eye Award by The Institute of Documentary Film in 2019 and is currently on the festival circuit. In her filmic work Hanna studies the modern, triangular relationship between humans, nature and science as well as the line between documentary and fiction.
