Born in Bucharest in 1974 and graduate of Smith College, Massachusetts, Laura worked for National Geographic Channel in Washington between 1999 and 2002. She lived between 2002 and 2003 in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she followed for National Geographic Today the life stories of four exceptional Afghan women. During her stay in Afghanistan, she also filmed and co-directed the Afghan part of award-winning documentary Smiling in a War Zone, on the flight of a Danish woman pilot in a minuscule antique plane from Copenhagen to Kabul. Returned to Romania in 2005, Laura was one of the ten young Romanian directors to make one of the documentaries for the prestigious BBC Format Great Romanians series on the national public television last year.
