Alexander Nanau

German-Romanian film producer/director born in Romania. He studied directing at the Film and Television Academy Berlin. His documentary The World According to Ion B was awarded in 2010 an International Emmy Award. The film travelled in over 70 festivals word-wide where it won numerous awards. Nanau’s first feature documentary, Peter Zadek Inszeniert Peer Gynz (2006) premiered at the Munich IFF and was released in cinemas across Germany and Austria in 2006. Nanau is a fellowship holder of Akademie der Künste Berlin and the Sundance Institute. His latest feature documentary film Toto and His Sisters is a European Academy Award nominee and screened successfully at international festivals winning awards at many of them. It had its release in French cinemas in January 2016 screening nationwide as Toto et ses soeurs. Furthermore he is working as a DOP, a creative consultant for HBO Europe and was a tutor for the Masterschool of the Documentary Campus 2015.
