Isa Willinger studied documentary film directing at the University of Television and Film Munich. Her debut feature film Hi, AI. Liebesgeschichten aus der Zukunft was nominated for the German Film Award for best documentary in 2019 and won the Max Ophüls Award in the same category. In 2020, Isa was awarded the SI STAR film prize for outstanding female directors for her feature-length. Hi, AI, l is still touring the festival circuit and has also received several international awards.
Isa's other films include the international award-winning documentary Fort von allen Sonnen/Away From All Suns (2013, HFF/BR/ARTE), which received the Starter Film Prize of the City of Munich, among others; and the TV documentary Macht und Musik (2018, WDR/ARTE), for which she was awarded the Václav Havel Prize
