Enrique Sánchez Lansch grew up in Gijón (Spain) and Cologne (Germany). He studied music, majoring in opera singing, and later studied Romance and German Philology and Philosophy, wrote a master’s thesis on film adaptation of literature, and received a master’s degree (Magister Artium). Later he went to film school in the USA at Columbia University and UCLA. He is based in Berlin working as a writer and director of film documentaries, mostly set in the arts. Since 2002 he has directed several successful documentary films, among the German audience hit “Rhythm is it!” (German Film Award, German Critics Award, Minneapolis Film Festival Audience Award, etc.) , “The Reichsorchester” (Diapason d'or de l'annee Award), and recently a film about the history of the “Deutsche Oper” in Berlin.
