The Concrete Grassland
The Concrete Grassland is an intimate, essay-style documentary that blends personal narrative with socio-political exploration. Through years of home video footage, filmmaker chronicles her journey from a hopeful young couple in 2005 to one of the countless defrauded homeowners caught in the chaotic quagmire of Georgia's unregulated construction boom. What began as a simple attempt to document her family life would, over the course of 15 years, evolve into a poignant critique of the system that left thousands of citizens like her powerless, unheard, and stuck in an endless cycle of broken promises. The film leads us in the urban chaos of Tbilisi and observes the haunting images of cities abandoned constructions.
