Lady Drivers
In a slum area in Chennai, a group of women are taking driving lessons in order to become auto rickshaw drivers – a very unusual profession in the traditional South India. Besides striving for financial independence they are making the first step towards the emancipation of Indian women. What can European women learn from them? Murgama is a 32 year old widow and one of the first auto-rickshaw drivers in Chennai. Lavinia is a dance teacher from Europe living and working in India. The documentary will show the everyday struggle of the two women who met in the driving school.
