FLORAL CLEATS
Floral Cleats follows two teenage girls from the Juruk
community in rural Macedonia, where tobacco fields
shape both landscape and destiny. Raised in a deeply
conservative environment, they quietly challenge expectations by forming a football team — an act that unsettles
family traditions and gender roles alike. Balancing domestic labor, interrupted education, and exhausting training
sessions, football becomes a fragile space of freedom and
solidarity. Wearing floral dresses transformed into improvised uniforms, their bodies carry the weight of both tradition and rebellion. Filmed through an intimate observational approach, with moments of participatory presence,
the documentary captures doubts, resistance, and shared
joy as the girls prepare for their first opportunity to play
beyond the village — a professional match in the city.
