Synopse

Through introspection and raw vulnerability, the director weaves a deeply personal yet universal existential story of parental love, family dynamics, change, support, and the rhythm of everyday life. Using a video diary and seemingly unfiltered home video footage, the film blurs the line between documentary and autofiction. At the same time, it reflects on the position of women in society through the director’s personal experiences, exploring how perceptions and expectations shift as a woman transitions from girlhood to womanhood.
At its core, At Home is an intimate portrait of the director’s journey through her 20s and into her 30s, navigating everyday experiences and gender struggles. Centered on the complex relationship between a father and daughter, the film is shaped by the presence of key women in her life—the mother, stepmother, half-sister, and grandmother—exploring the role of women within the family and the expectations placed upon them.
As the director confronts her insecurities, struggles with eating disorders, and deals with reproductive and hormonal health issues, At Home seeks to answer a profound question: what defines a woman if it is not solely the biological ability to bear children?
