Synopse
The famous actress Larisa Kadochnikova – the face of Ukrainian poetic cinema of the 60s – revisits the village of Buchak on Dnieper where she starred in Yuriy Illenko’s Ivana Kupala Night half a century ago. Buchak was the film set for such prominent filmmakers as Sergey Parajanov, Andrei Tarkovsky, Volodymyr Denysenko, Mykola Rasheyev etc. Oleksandr Dovzhenko planned to shoot his last film here. Members of film crews and residents of Buchak who played in crowd scenes recall unknown details of the shootings. In the early 70s, when Soviets built the Kaniv hydropower plant, the reservoir drowned the unique “Hollywood on the Dnieper”. Today the village is almost completely abandoned, but it attracts a new generation of artists. Lyubko Deresh, a writer, Oleg Mykhailyuta, a musician, and other young men of arts explain what attracts them in the village. In spite of everything Buchak lives!
