Synopse
In 1963, Batkhorol Sagdkhorol – known as Sabat – a young film student from Mongolia, arrives in East Germany and soon becomes part of an East German family. Rising to prominence, he enters high diplomatic circles, working alongside Erich Honecker and Mongolia’s President Tsedenbal. But in 1979, he vanishes – cut off from his friends, erased from embassy records, even absent from official archives.
Decades later, the filmmaker embarks on a journey from Germany to the remote steppes of Mongolia to uncover the truth. Yet the closer the search comes to an answer, the more elusive it becomes. SABAT explores the shadows of a life left behind, questioning whether the most profound revelations lie not in the answers, but in the journey itself.
