Synopse

In the remote, picturesque mountains of Azerbaijan, 14-year-old Rose dreams of being a football player, just like her hero, Argentinian football player, Lionel Messi. A self-taught and talented/passionate football player already. Rose hopes to also be an accomplished portrait painter. She currently paints portraits of Messi and all her other sports idols. Rose teaches everything she knows to her younger brother, Tarlan. Rose's family faces a myriad of challenges. Her father grapples with mental illness, and her mother is only now, in her early 40s, learning how to read and write. Economic hardships loom large, casting a dark shadow over Rose's aspirations. However, what truly threatens to upend the delicate balance Rose is managing with her expectations and that of her parents, is the ominous return of Rose's uncle, her father’s brother, who violently beats his own wife and children, as well as her father, mother Rose and her brother. This menacing figure, recently released from prison, poses a grave danger to the family's safety and well-being. As Rose navigates these turbulent waters, she must grapple not only with her dreams but also with the need to safeguard her loved ones from harm. Adding to the family's woes, their livelihood hinges on a small plot of land. Their land, vital for their sustenance, faces an annual menace in the form of devastating floods. The recurring deluge sweeps through the village, leaving destruction in its wake, endangering their crops and their very way of life. In this intricate tapestry of hopes and struggles, Rose's determination grows and shines as she confronts the forces of tradition, modernity, adversity, and nature that threaten to define her future.
