Aniela Gabryel was born in Wrocław in 1985. She studied and graduated film directing at National Film School in Łódź. She also studied the history of art and the theory of theatre. Her short films have been screened and recognized at numerous festivals in Poland and around the world. Her documentary ‘To Fly or Not to Fly’ has received many awards, and was on the list of the Top European Shorts. Aniela Gabryel’s full-length documentary debut ‘When Will This Wind Stop’ about the occupied Crimea has received the main prize for the best student documentary film at the International Documentary Film Festival IDFA in 2016 in Amsterdam, and was screened at numerous film festivals around the world.
