Holds a MA from the University of Amsterdam and Comenius University in Bratislava, as well as the European Diploma in Cultural Project Management. From 1997 until 2011, she was a programmer for the IFF Rotterdam. She has served as an advisor for international festivals including Karlovy Vary, Locarno, Sarajevo, Yerevan and Bratislava, and for two years she was artistic director of Art Film Fest in her native Slovakia (2007-2008). From 2011 until 2014 worked at the Doha Film Institute in Qatar as Head of Film Programming, and in the function of Deputy Director of Qumra festival. She was also a reader and a jury member for the Doha Film Institute’s Film Grants. Current positions include selecting films for the Romanian Anonimul International Independent Film Festival, independent creative consultancy for film funding, script development, film programming, membership of the committee of the IFFR‘s Hubert Bals Fund as well as advising for IFFR’s programming. Ludmila has organized and curated diverse cultural events in the Netherlands (the most recent in 2015: Where Do We Go Now: Arab Women Behind the Camera in EYE Film Institute, Amsterdam) and internationally (collaborated with MoMA in New York). Ludmila Cvikova is a member of the European Film Academy.
