Barbora Chalupova is screenwriter and director of the emerging young generation who is not afraid to experiment in her films. She is currently developing two feature films - the family adventure film ELECTRIC WONDER (produced by Helium Film) and a biographical film about mountaineer Dina Štěrbová TURQUOISE MOUNTAIN (produced by Nochi Film). Her greatest achievement is the film CAUGHT IN THE NET (co-directed by Vít Klusák, 2020), which became the most visited documentary film in Czech cinemas with over 500.000 admissions. The film was also screened at international festivals such as CPH Dox, Tallinn Black Nights and many others and it was awarded the Czech Lion for the Best Documentary Film. Her other success is her feature-length documentary THE LAW OF LOVE (2021), which deals with the legalisation of marriage for same-sex couples. She is a long-time collaborator of Czech Television where she premiered her documentary TV series UNDER A DISTRAINT ORDER: HOW DEBTS ARE CREATED, which was nominated for PRIX EUROPE 2023. In the past, she presented two original TV films - EQUALITY THEORY (2017), REAL(E)STATE (2019). Her student films TRANSITION (2014), ARMS READY! (2016), ON THE EDGE (2018), CON SPIRO (2022) were presented and awarded at many Czech and foreign festivals. In 2022 she was included in the selection of 30 under 30 by Forbes CZ magazine. She is a member of the European Film Academy.
