Educated a lawyer, Brigitte Weich has a long lasting professional practice as cultural manager and manager of community projects with an emphasis in the field of arthouse-film. She extended her subject-specific education with an interdisciplinary postgraduate course in gender studies. Her thesis was a work on women’s television. To implement audio-visual projects in that special field of interest of hers, she created a structure of development and production companies. 2003 she started the work on “Hana, dul, sed ...”, her first film as a director and as a producer. The documentary saw its world premiere 2009 at the Locarno Film Festival and was awarded in 2010 the prize for best Austrian documentary of the year.
