Vlad Naumescu is Assistant Professor at the Central European University and one of the founders of the Visual Studies Platform. He teaches visual anthropology and filmmaking since 2007, and participated in summer schools, documentary workshops and festivals as tutor, lecturer and jury member. His directing debut, Birds’ Way (2009) co-authored with Klára Trencsényi, is an award-winning documentary on Russian Old Believers in Romania. Together, they developed and taught filmmaking workshops for social scientists and film students, and produced a series of short films based on his latest research in South India. He is currently exploring new forms of documentary, digital storytelling and cross-media projects for his 2015 summer course ‘The City Uploaded'.
