Mihkel Oksmann is an Estonian documentary filmmaker. He graduated from the Documentary Master’s program at the Baltic Film and Media School in 2018. His thesis film 'A-Well Kept Secret' was awarded the Best Central and Eastern Europe Student Film at Ji.hlava IDFF (2018). His films have addressed socially sensitive issues, such as the impact of urbanization in the countryside.His artistic style is a combination of Baltic minimalism, a touch of black humour and good-natured warmth towards his film subjects. In 2019 he did a 11-month internship for documentary production company Flatbush Pictures in Brooklyn, NY. In November 2020, his documentary short “Wedding Officiant” premiered at PÖFF. Currently he is working on his first feature-length documentary about the obscure sport of ice sailing.
