DocsBarcelona, born 20 years ago with the mission of enriching and contributing to society through Documentary. It started as a training workshop back in 1997, to train documentary producers to be competent at an international level. Today, the DocsBarcelona School Program has trained over 1.200 professionals through its various courses and workshops. In 1998, it was positioned as a financing market for projects, becoming an international reference in Southern Western Europe and top build a profesional bridge with the Latinamerican Documentary community. In 2005, DocsBarcelona created the nowadays largest regular documentary exhibition network, with 95 screens in Spain, Xile, Colombia and El Salvador. We have normalized the regular premiere of documentary films in theaters in this territories, on a basis of 1 release per month. It is the DocsBarcelona of The Month program, also released in DVD and VOD. Since 2007, it counts with a Competitive International Documentary Film Festival with the objective to bring the best works of the international scene to the audience and to put in contact audience and documentary filmakers. The 2017 edition in Barcelona attracted over 16.000 viewers and showed 94 films. DocsBarcelona Festival has its sister editions in the cities of Valparaíso (Xile) and Medellín (Colombia). The global DOCSBARCELONA exhibition activity reached 102.000 viewers in 2016.
