Gabriel Szollosy is a Uruguayan filmmaker of Hungarian descent, born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1968, where he worked as graphic designer and after accomplishing his studies at the film school, as director of documentaries and short films. His semi-fictional documentary Domingueando was awarded by the Felix Oliver Grand prix at the 20th International Film Festival of Uruguay and was broadcast by Mezzo and the Arts Channel, Australia. His film „El otro camino. Tango with Rodolfo Mederos” won the FIPA D’Or Grand Prix in 2008 in Biarritz, France. El Destello, produced in coproduction with Odisea Spain, has been in official competition at Visions du Reel, BAFICI, É Tudo Verdade, and the Rhode Island International Film Festival, among others. Gabriel is currently in post-production with his latest documentary Adaggio, a highly personal account of Uruguay’s military dictatorship in the 1970s.
