Sergei Kachkin, a Russian film director and producer, was born and grew up in the city of Perm. In 2001 he graduated from Perm Polytechnical University with a speciality in «automobile engineering». From 2006 he has shot several short films which have been shown and awarded in both Russia and globally. In 2007-2008 his films were represented in the USA in the programme «Cultural Leaders, Filmmakers ». In 2009 he finished Marina Razbezhkina’s Film School in Moscow. He took part in many international seminars led by Rafi Pitts (France); Tue Steen Müller (Denmark); Iikka Vehkalahti (Finland); Alexander Sokurov, Victor Kossakovsky, Sergei Dvortsevoy (Russia) and elsewhere. In 2011 Sergei completed a full-length documentary film «On the Way Home», which was consequently included in competitions in Russia and International Film Festivals and was also bought by Russian and International television channels to be shown on air.
Sergei is also an organizer of co-production forums and international film festivals: Since 2011 Head of Project Department, Moscow Co-Production Forum «Moscow Business Square», taking place during the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) www.miffbs.ru.
