Center for Persecuted Arts in Solingen

The Center is a unique museum in Europe. It focuses exclusively on artists whose opportunities for development have been blocked, prevented or destroyed by terror and violence. These artists are victims of the dictatorships of the last century as well as of totalitarian regimes of the presence. The Center’s work is related to the Citizens’ Foundation for Persecuted Arts – Else Lasker-Schüler Center – Gerhard Schneider Art Collection (Bürgerstiftung für verfolgte Künste – Else Lasker-Schüler-Zentrum – Kunstsammlung Gerhard Schneider). The focal points of the collection are visual and literary works reflecting the political and social events between 1914 and 1989.
