METRAFILMS was founded in 1993 in Moscow by Artem Vasilyev. Today METRAFILMS is one of Russia’s top independent film companies, specializing in development and production of independent feature films and international co-production. In 2018 the company has expanded its profile and is currently developing and producing not only feature films, but also author-driven series for Russian and international TV and VOD platforms.
Films produced by METRAFILMS, like Alexey German Jr.’s DOVLATOV and PAPER SOLDIER, Alexey Fedorchenko’s ANNA’S WAR, Michael Idov’s THE HUMORIST have received numerous awards.
Artem Vasilyev is METRAFILMS’ CEO and one of the most influential independent film-makers in Russia and a member of the European Film Academy, Russian Film Academy and The European Club.
