The International Izmir Short Film Festival is the largest event of its kind in Turkey, and the first to award prizes to international short films. Since its inauguration in 2000 this has become one of the country’s most prestigious film festivals, drawing many respected film figures from beyond Turkey’s borders. The 2014 edition showed more than 150 short films, from countries as diverse as Japan and Poland. The festival presents both Veteran and Youth awards, the latter voted for by students.
