GADEA is a multidisciplinary creative platform based in Barcelona with international projection.
We aim to enrich and produce creative and innovative stories that give meaning and direction to our time. Gadea Films premiered fist production with S'HIVERN, collaborative short documentary directed by Catalan filmmaker Pau Pericas.
This November 2019 we will world premiere LA MAMI in the official competition of the IDFA festival 2019. Directed by the award-winning director Laura Herrero (EL REMOLINO, Best Documentary Award at Documenta Madrid 2017, Best Documentary at EcoZine 2017) and with Mexican majority production with the veteran producer Laura Imperiale (LOS PERDICIÓN DE LOS HOMBRES, Arturo Ripstein, 2000, coproducción México-España, Festival de San Sebastián - Concha de Plata, ASÍ ES LA VIDA, Arturo Ripstein, 1999, coproducción México-España Festival de Cannes - Una mirada, among others) LA MAMI will be distributed by the pioneer documentary sales agent DOGWOOF.
Gadea Films was selected and sponsored by ICAA as a Spanish emerging producer at the prestigious Match Me! from Locarno 2019. We have shared all our projects and we got international feedback that help us direct our content to global audiences. OH DEAR SARA represents Franquesa’s documentary directorial debut and the first lead feature production at Gadea Films. Directed by Patricia Franquesa, and co-produced by Norway by Kristian Mosvold and Allice Tillet. The film has participated in Docs in Thessaloniki (EDN, 2016) and Docs Barcelona Industry (2016). The project has been funded by the artist fund Cultiva Ekspress for the development of leading ideas in terms of form and content. In 2018, we received the support from the ICEC (Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises) in the development of a project that helped us to drive towards production.
CAPUCCHINS is the story told first hand by the director Pau Pericas, with whom we enter into the Caputxins community of Sarrià. Development project with the support of the Italian distributor TVCO, who is already interested in the rights of the film. They believe that it has a good international market.
MESTRAL is an intimate conversation with the filmmaker Cordelia Alegre, through memories and family interactions in a moving house of summer that can no longer be allowed. Participating fiction short film project participating in Mentoring Projects of the Alternativa International Film Festival and part of the women creators collective Dones Visuals interested in exploring new ways of storytelling.
OLE MY COÑO! it's the story of how Director Patricia Franquesa is the victim of a ransomware - after theft of her computer, she is driven into a digital blackmail plot with a band of hackers. A documentary thriller where the narrative will be digital, we will only use elements that can be hackable, as a vindication of the consequences that this may have on bad hands. Development project.
In October 2019, ICEC (Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises) grants Gadea Films with a prestigious fund to apply its international and strategic plan on how to develop new ways of collaborating with international audiences with the aim to expand audiences, dialogues and markets globally. The last project Telenovela: Grey-Scale on color is part of East Silver Caravan 2020.
