Set up as a distribution company in 1995 by Michael Höfner and Jürgen Brüning, GMfilms has released (and, since 1997) co-produced a number of predominantly gay-oriented features and documentaries, including such English-language titles as Ela Troyano's Latin Boys Go to Hell and Nigel Finch's Stonewall. GM distributes commercially in Germany and non-commercially throughout German-speaking Europe.
GM was inactive in 2000 and 2001, but has geared up its slate since April 2002, with plans for up to five movies a year, including Ulrike Franke and Michael Loeken's documentary Herr Schmidt und Herr Friedrich, which the company also produced, and the Brazilian gay odyssey Saudade, which means 'Desire', and which Brüning directed.
There is an insufficient information to rank the company's releases by admissions
