EX ORIENTE FILM WORKSHOP 2018

Focus:
Development

Open to: Creative feature length documentary projects in development and production, challenging genres, format and media boundaries. We welcome filmmakers who set out to conduct intense and engaging experiences and to change the way we think and see our reality.

During three week-long workshops held over the next nine months, producers and directors gain assistance and advice from more than 25 leading filmmakers and experts in the development of ideas, production, and promotion strategies for their upcoming documentary films. Among tutors of Ex Oriente Film 2018 we are proud to welcome Giona A. NazzaroIikka Vehkalahti, Mikael Opstrup, Ivana Pauerová Miloševičová and Filip Remunda.

You can submit your work until April 24th, 2018 with our online APPLICATION FORM (applying is free of charge and is only available in English).

Workshop Timeline
1st Session: June 17th – June 23rd, 2018 (Trieste, Italy)
2nd Session: October 25th – October 30th, 2018 (Jihlava, Czech Republic, within Ji.hlava IDFF)
3rd Session & Pitching Forum: March 2019 (Prague, Czech Republic, within East Doc Platform and One World IHRDFF)

Participants: The workshop is open for 12 documentary projects represented by director-producer teams who will attend all the workshop sessions. The workshop is designed for directors and producers coming from Europe with a special attention for Central and Eastern Europe projects (incl. EU acceding and candidate countries, Post-Soviet states and Russia) and/or for creative documentary projects dealing with stories from Central and Eastern Europe.

Participation fee: The participation fee is €2,100 per selected project (includes accommodation, coffee breaks and lunches during all the three workshop sessions for 2 pers.).

Scholarship: Selected participants may apply for a scholarship to cover part of the participation fee associated with the workshop. Applicants must prove that there is no access to scholarships in their own country.

Practical requirements: Directors and producers can only participate with their own creative documentary projects. It is required that all workshop sessions are attended by both the director and the producer. Participants must be proficient in English.
