EX ORIENTE FILM WORKSHOP 2022
Focus: Development
Open to: Creative feature length documentary projects and docuseries in development and early production, challenging genres, format and media boundaries. We welcome filmmakers who set out to conduct intense and engaging experiences and to change the way we think and see our reality.
During three week-long sessions held over the next nine months, producers and directors gain assistance and advice from more than 30 leading filmmakers and experts in the development of ideas, production, and promotion strategies for their upcoming documentary films.
Workshop timeline:
1st Session: Find Your Way – Vision, Space and Storytelling
June 17-22, 2022 (La Rochelle, France, at Sunny Side of the Doc)
2nd Session: Production and Story Development
October 24-29, 2022 (at Ji.hlava IDFF, Czech Republic)
3rd Session: Market, Here I am!
March 24-30, 2023 (in Prague, Czech Republic, within the East Doc Platform & One World IHRDFF)
Participants: The workshop is open for 12 documentary projects represented by director-producer teams who will attend all the workshop sessions. The workshop is designed for directors and producers coming from Europe with a special attention to Central and Eastern Europe projects (incl. EU acceding and candidate countries, Post-Soviet states) and/or for creative documentary projects dealing with stories from Central and Eastern Europe.
Participation fee: Usual expected regular participation fee is €2,400 per selected project (includes accommodation, coffee breaks and lunches during all the three workshop sessions for 2 pers.) The fee will be implemented in accordance with the workshop format, depending on the format of each session. We will keep you informed about the updates.
Scholarship: Selected participants may apply for a scholarship to cover part of the participation fee associated with the workshop. Applicants must prove that there is no access to scholarships in their own country.
Practical requirements: Directors and producers can only participate with their own creative documentary projects. It is required that all workshop sessions are attended by both the director and the producer. Participants must be proficient in English.
