Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) has been supporting creative documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe since 2001. Within the activities, IDF actively offers the current Czech and East-European documentary production to international festivals.

One of the festival interested in this selection was the DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival 2018 taking place on 29 January – 4 February, 2018. The festival’s selection committees have selected three Czech documentaries: The Russian Job (d. Petr Horký, p. Martin Jůza, Krutart, CZ, 2017), The White World According to Daliborek (d. Max Tuula, Maria Gavrilova, Marxfilm, EE, POL, CZ, 2017).

One of the most celebrated debuts last year was Communion (d. Anna Zamecka, p. Anna Wydra, Otter Films, Wajda Studio, HBO Europe, PL, 2016). European Film Academy chose it as the best documentary of 2017. Communion participated to East Silver Market and won Silver Eye Award 2016. It’s director Anna Zamecka will be one of festival’s guests. Among other filmmakers invited to DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival is co-producer of the film Tarzan´a Testicles (d. Alexandru Solomon, p. Ada Solomon, Hi Film Productions, FR, RO, 2017).  This film is included in the selection East Silver Caravan.
