The Vasulka Effect

The Vasulkas, international pioneers of video art and lifetime hackers, sometimes called the grandparents of the “YouTube” generation, are struggling with finances. They have been busy archiving their work at their home in New Mexico as they worry about their legacy and how to preserve the sensitive video medium for future generations. Without a retirement plan things are looking grim but by an unexpected chain of events the Vasulkas are rediscovered by the art world and in a span of three years time, archives, galleries and museums are fighting over who should represent them when they are gone.
