Synopsis
The documentary tells a story of a border territory, a land characterized through the centuries by the presence of a frontier, but capable to preserve its unique character, despite the historical events. After 1947, this land suffered from both sides of the frontier for the consequences of the "iron curtain", that split Italy and Slovenia. Today, this territory is a space left empty by its primal inhabitants, but determined to preserve its identity. The big border's history emerge through the eyes of the micro-histories: the interviews collected by the two authors Anja Medved and Nadja Velušček among the inhabitants of both sides of the border show us the pain of who decided to stay and who leaved. By opening the borders, the new historical conjuncture shows new forms and life modalities in a common territory.
