After the sudden death of her father, the filmmaker is on a search for her heritage and the story of her father's escape. She is joined by her two friends, the cinematographer and the composer, as they travel through Bulgaria. They examine places, texts, letters, documents and archival footage of her family in Bulgaria and Germany. Together with her friends she tries to undo the separations that had shaped her father’s life. She starts writing letters to her dead father telling him about her discoveries, about feelings she could never share with him when he was alive. The three go on a transformative documentary journey and recover a sense of togetherness, creating new memories that merge within this film into a mosaic of footages of their own present futures and her father’s life.
