Born in Italy and based in Berlin, Lucio Mollica graduated from the University of Bologna and began his career in the United States. Since 2007, he has been working in documentaries as an author, director and producer, with a focus on contemporary history and political issues. Lucio’s films and series have been internationally awarded and broadcast in more than 30 countries, on channels including ARTE, PBS, History Channel, ZDF, SBS, ARD, Al Jazeera, and DR. His most recent works include the Grimme Prize-winning series Afghanistan: The Wounded Land, the feature documentary I Want My Country Back (winner of the History Film Festival) and the four-part series Munich ‘72: Terror at the Games. Vietnam: The Birth of a Nation premiered in France and Germany in April 2025.
