Lecture by Claire Aguilar: Developing and Pitching Your Project to the North American Market (incl. Q&A)
Claire Aguilar will talk about how to produce and present a successful project. Currently the challenging worldwide pandemic COVID-19 has seriously affected the film and documentary market. Shooting and in-person onsite production has come to a standstill. In-person exhibition and markets have all gone online or become virtual. Film festivals are slowly resuming in-person, but most are online. As for developing and pitching, how has this environment affected the North American market?

Masterclass by Sean McAllister: The C word in documentary: "Casting, character and commentary" (incl. Q&A)
"I will discuss how I go about finding characters, looking at examples from past films and discussing the pitfalls. As my films are all single character narratives it’s important to find the right person. It’s about being able to have a rapport on camera, an unfolding friendship and ultimately someone who wants something to change. The film is the catalyst for change. In this masterclass I will draw on examples from my 2009 film Japan a story of love and hate, 2015 A Syrian Love Story and 2018 A Northern Soul."
