Two awards at the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival went to IDF participants' films. Anna Gyimesi received the Heart of Sarajevo Award for the Best Student Film for her graduation project Falling; Kumjana Novakova was granted the Human Rights Award for her forensic video essay film Silence of Reason.
The prestigious Award ceremony was held on Friday 18th of August at Sarajevo National Theatre. We are delighted that it was a joyous occasion for authors whose projects are part of the East Silver Caravan 2023.

Falling
A documentary, that had a World premiere at the festival is a lyrical, found footage-based testimony from a mother who faces not only the taboos surrounding motherhood but also the most difficult situation in her life. According to the jury, it is “a raw, modest and courageous movie dealing with life, love and death”.
Falling will soon have its North American premiere at the Camden International Film Festival in September.

Silence of Reason
A forensic video essay built as performative research into the first international criminal tribunal case to enter convictions for rape as a form of torture and for sexual enslavement as a crime against humanity. The Silence of Reason focuses on the experiences of women from the Foča rape camps during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and acts as a memory itself - elusive, fluid, it rejects framing, moving in all directions, spatial and temporal.
