Synopsis
This poetic film about man and nature is shot on the Polish border of Germany, where throughout history there has been a great deal of political unrest. The area of Miedzychod is surrounded by awe-inspiring, unadulterated nature – a mixture of thick forests full of rare birds, mushrooms, and plants and 52 lakes full of fish. Nobody is going hungry, although the unemployment rate is high. In 17 families, only four people earn a living, but nature provides a little bit for everyone. Man, on the other hand, doesn’t provide for nature. Here, in the middle of this peaceful, mesmerizing, beautiful land, oil is discovered. Heavy machines and skilled industrial professionals, who do not employ the locals, crowd the area, hurrying to exploit an estimated 4.4 million tons of oil.
