Ex Oriente Film 2019 – first session tutors

The first Ex Oriente Film 2019 workshop will take place June 20-25, 2019, in Banská Štiavnica (Slovakia). Who will be the tutors that will provide guidance to workshop participants in developing their projects?

The lead tutors of the 1st Ex Oriente Film 2019 workshop called "Find Your Way - Vision, Space and Storytelling" are Mikael Opstrup (former programme director of EDN), Tue Steen Müller (documentary expert, consultant), Ivana Pauerová Miloševič (director and script editor) and Filip Remunda (director and producer).

Guest tutors:
Alen Drljević
 - His short fiction film Prva plata (Paycheck. 2005) was nominated for a European Film Academy Award. His documentary feature debut Karneval (Carnival, 2006) was selected by IDFA 2006, in its “First Appearance” and “Movies that Matter” competitions. He is a member of the European Film Academy. His film Men Don't Cry (2017) premiered at Karlovy Vary IFF where it received a Special Jury Mention Prize and Europa Cinemas Label Award.

Hilla Medalia - Peabody Award-winning filmmaker and producer with three Emmy nominations. Her titles include Leftover Women (2019), Web Junkie (2014) and Dancing in Jaffa (2013). Her projects have garnered critical acclaim and screened internationally in theaters and on television including HBO, MTV, BBC and ARTE.

Dalia Neis - Writer, filmmaker, and sound artist. She has recently completed her PhD on cinematic representations of wind and the essay form. As Dice Miller, she is front person of the newly founded experimental music group, FITH. Her work explores the interface between sound, image, and text.

Rada Šešić - Festival programmer, film lecturer, critic and film director. Along with her association with the two biggest film festivals in The Netherlands: IDFA Amsterdam and the IFFR Rotterdam, she also heads the Documentary competition at the biggest South East European festival in Sarajevo and co-heads Docu Rough Cut Boutique.

Maciej Kubicki - Film and TV creative producer and writer. Alumni of Ex Oriente Film 2016, Emerging Producer of 2017. He runs with Anna Kępińska a Warsaw-based boutique production company TELEMARK, where he develops ideas for new projects and produces creative documentaries (e.g. The Wind. A Documentary Thriller by Michał Bielawski, Over the Limit by Marta Prus) and TV drama (e.g. In Treatment and Pact for HBO Europe).

Robert Kirchhoff - Film director and producer, CEO of independent production company atelier.doc. His filmography includes Normalization (2013), Steam On The River (2015, with Filip Remunda) and A Hole In the Head (2016).

Jan Gogola Jr. - Director, script editor and lecturer. Worked at FAMU and for Czech TV. Gogola has been involved in the making of numerous documentaries, e.g. Czech Dream, Czech Peace (dir. Filip Remunda, Vít Klusák); 66 Seasons, Cooking History (dir. Peter Kerekes); Ester (dir. Věra Chytilová); Lost Holiday (dir. Lucie Králová); Other Worlds (dir. Marko Škop); Private Century (dir. Jan Šikl), Rene and Katka (dir. Helena Třeštíková).
